• Rubber mallet.
• Stapler.
• Tape measure.
• Utility knife.
• Wood chisel.
• 4-in-1 screwdriver.
• Caulk gun.
• Cordless drill.
• Hacksaw.
• 1-inch brad nails.
• Caulk.
• Door sweep.
• Weather stripping.

How To Stop Entry Door Drafts

Use this step-by-step guide to properly put an end to entry door drafts.

Step 1. Remove The Door

• Start by removing the door and replacing all weather seals.
• Unzip the old and/or damaged door weather stripping by pulling through the brads that hold it in place.

Step 2. Cut The Brads

• Either push back or cut off the brads completely.
• If you wish to push them back, do it all the way back into the groove using an old chisel.

Step 3. Attach New Weather Stripping

• Start by cutting the new weather stripping to the proper length.
• Reinstall it by pinning it with new brads.
• These should be positioned quite closely to the old brads.

Step 4. Replace Sweep

• Peel out your old door sweep.
• Caulk the ends of the door frame, at this time.
• Tap in the replacement sweep and staple its ends.
• Do this using 1/2-inch staples or the fasteners that come with the sweep.

Step 5. Adjust Threshold

• Now adjust your door threshold with the help of a No. 3 Phillips screwdriver.
• Move it up and down until your door closes with zero light seeping through.
